Brick/Block Quantity Calculator (Walls)
Our Brick/Block Calculator helps you estimate the number of bricks or concrete blocks
and the amount of mortar needed for your masonry walls. Accurate calculations are essential for
efficient material procurement and project budgeting.
How to Use This Tool:
- Enter the total Wall Length and Wall Height in feet.
- Select the Brick Type or Concrete Block you are using.
- Specify the Mortar Joint Thickness in inches (e.g., 0.375" for 3/8").
- Set a Waste Factor (%) to account for breakage, cuts, or errors. A common waste factor is 5-10%.
- Click "Calculate Bricks/Blocks" to get your estimated material quantities.
Key Factors in Your Calculation:
- Wall Dimensions: Determine the total surface area of the wall to be constructed.
- Unit Type & Dimensions: The size of the brick or block significantly impacts how many units are needed per square foot.
- Mortar Joint Thickness: Affects the number of units per area and the total mortar volume. Thicker joints mean fewer units and more mortar.
- Waste Factor: This percentage is applied to the total units and mortar to ensure you have enough material on site, accounting for typical construction waste.
- Assumptions: Mortar estimates are approximate and can vary based on mortar mix design, joint profile, and application method. Always consult with your supplier.
